A fresh install solved the problem. I would want to find out what caused this (an old 1.6 beta install with custom keyboard shortcuts was on my old setup) but I'm too lazy so I just deleted the old one.

Must be my setup then. I'll try doing a fresh install and report back. Does the win+w, win+f, win+q work for you?

Ugh didn't realize I wasn't logged in. I just tested all the desktops. All of them show the start screen with both Window key and hot corner.

I am not sure I understand the problem, but I have been using Dexpot on Win 8 (DP, CP and now RP) just fine. The window key works fine for all desktops. The only bad thing is that we don't get thumbnails for Metro applications but I think thats not even possible with the current API.

Well, I had a hard time choosing the right words for the title so I'll just explain it here.
The windows key does not work on desktops other than desktop1 for Win8 RP.
