Flight Simulator X Window Visible Before Ready

With the new Dexpot 1.6 running, when FSX is launched, a window becomes visible that didn't before. Once loaded, the normal game setup/launch becomes visible, but with this other phantom window still in the background. Also, despite FSX having been configured to start in full screen mode, it now always starts in windowed mode in the phantom window.

It seems like FSX creates an invisible window when it starts, which is the main rendering window. It then makes this window visible when the flight selections are complete. However, with Dexpot 1.6 this invisible window is somehow forcibly made visible immediately, and any full screen is ignored (once in a flight, full screen can be enabled again).

This did not occur with 1.5. If 1.6 is not running, the behavior returns to normal.

Is there some new window handling that causes this, and some setting that can be changed to fix it?

Do you have any desktop rules?

Yes... FSX is forced to Desktop 1. Is this some new way 1.6 does things?

Make sure the rule's "Do not apply to invisible windows" option is enabled.

Correction, I don't have any rules (I wiped them when I moved my profile over).

So the even with the latest update, the window becomes visible.

Enable the Dexpot log file, restart Dexpot, launch FSX and send me the log file.

Any suggestions on how to avoid this "new" bug or behavior?

Save the attached file to your Dexpot installation folder and add the following to your mywechsel.ini:

Code: Select all

[Klasse]
FS98MAIN=dontmove

dexpot.exe

Thanks. Is this an updated 1.6 exe? I assume this change will be rolled into the regular release...

Yes.

Does it work?

It fixes the window visibility (that window is no longer shown), but it causes the launch window (the borderless flight selection setup, see previous screenshot) to not be movable, and the 3D DX region on that window doesn't render or animate when the mouse cursor is inside the that region.

And that was not a problem with the original 1.6 version?

No it wasn't. The previous 1.6 just had the window visibility (and full screen override) problem.

Are you really sure? The changes from the original version 1.6.1 to the one posted above are quite minimal. I don't see how they could have the effect you're describing. I can't reproduce the new problem with the FSX Demo either.
