Disabling / Remapping native Windows hotkeys / shortcuts

Not strictly a Dexpot question per se, but I wanted to use some shortcuts to switch between Dexpot desktops. But my prime candidates Ctrl+Alt+Tab and Win+Tab are native Windows shortcuts and I can't see how to override that. i even tried disabling "all" WinKey shortcuts (http://www.askvg.c...

Re: Skin or theme for each desk

Haven't tried it out extensively, but just to confirm, it does work on win10. Download either the 32 or 64 bit version and type the following command in Configure Desktops -> Start-up -> Command. Command takes Windows .theme files. D:\Temp>changetheme.exe C:\Users\yourUsername\AppData\Local\Microsof...

Desktop Preview shows icons for non-active apps

On Win10 running 1.6.14, Build 2439, the Desktop Preview shows some icons for Metro-style programs that aren't active. See picture. In my case, the apps represented by those icons are Calendar, Photos, Settings. The only one of those I ever use is Settings, so maybe Win10 keeps the other ones runnin...

Duplicate icons in Dexpot Preview using Windows Media Player

I get duplicated icons in Dexpot Preview when using Windows Media Player (WMP). There are usually 5 WMP icons, 4 the same size and one slightly smaller one, the latter of which disappears when WMP is minimized. Here's a few pics showing the duplicate icons, and the desktop showing no other applicati...

Re: Changing backgrounds changes multiple monitor orientatio

So sorry. Initially, I too didn't think dexpot would be at fault, but it seemed very repeatable. After shutting all other programs off, one I realized I couldn't switch off was ATI's Catalyst Control Center (CCC). Digging in CCC's options it turns out that it has a "Desktop Manager", in ta...

Changing backgrounds changes multiple monitor orientation

Minor bug to report. On Win 7x64 with Dexpot 1.6.4 Build 2186, I have two monitors, physically side-by-side with desktop extended horizontally across both. If i change a virtual desktop's background in Dexpot (Configure Desktops | background tab), it changes the orientation of the monitors from side...

Re: Restore Taskbar size after switching to desktop without

Any thoughts on this? Can the devs replicate this, i.e., the taskbar not remembering settings between desktops? If so, any thoughts on a fix in the pipeline, or, failing that, ideas for work-arounds? Currently on Win7 x64, Dexpot 1.5.99 Build 1858.

Bug or Expected? Notepad++ doesn't move to new desktop

On Win7 x64 with Dexpot 1.5.99 Build 1858, when I have Notepad++ already open in one desktop, eg DeskA, and then, while in DeskB, I launch Notepad++ from the Start menu, Notepad++ briefly flashes and then disappears. I can only bring it to DeskB if I manually move it, eg via drag-drop in Desktop pre...

mouse relocation and window focus when switching desktops

when switching desktops, i find my mouse will sometimes move to a different location (commonly centered on screen), or, even if it remains in the same location on the new desktop, the window the mouse is over doesn't have focus. can anyone else replicate this? It happens intermittently when I use sh...

Mousewheel switches only when Dexpot window focused

In the plugin Mouse events, it would be great if the option to switch desktops using the mouse wheel (Settings > Plugins and Extras > Mouse Events > Configure > Mouse Wheel) worked only when a dexpot window (e.g. preview, manager) was focused. this would alleviate the need to use the keyboard to swi...

Restore Taskbar size after switching to desktop without it

Is there a way to ensure that when returning from a virtual desktop where the taskbar is hidden, that the original taskbar size is restored? I normally keep my taskbar vertical, and fairly wide. When I go to a desktop where the taskbar is hidden (option Configure Desktops > Tools > Hide Deskop compo...

Re: Switching desktops with mouse wheel

I promise not to complain if you add the feature  Seriously, it would be great. At the same time I understand you probably already have lots of things to implement and you're all probably busy with other things besides. That said, if you have the time and it's easy to implement, maybe consider...

thanks for the heads up. wasn't aware of that. i don't think this feature is on your roadmap though, so unless i encounter too many problems (haven't had any issues so far) i'll probably stick with it.

Re: Dexpot Preview and Fitt's Law

Nevermind my last request. There's a perfectly good alternative way to do this with autohotkey, which I posted here:

Re: Switching desktops with mouse wheel

Building off Ben Hill's solution, and with a little (a lot actually) of help from some people at the autohotkey forums, I was able to get this to work as I wanted. First set up the Win+R and Win+L shortcuts in dexpot as previously described, and then install autohotkey and use one of the following s...

Desktop Preview auto-hide changed behavior

In one of the last couple updates (ironically, possibly when this request I made was implemented ), the Desktop Preview auto-hide changed its behavior when working with multiple monitors, and can't anchor to all monitor boundaries anymore. It's easier to explain if I show you my my desktop config: h...

Re: Dexpot Preview and Fitt's Law

Thanks much for implementing this.

While I'm being greedy, any chance you can enable Desktop Preview to use mouse scroll to change desktops (like Desktop Manager)?

I don't have a fancy UI rule to invoke here, but mouse scroll is easier than button click. Maybe we can call it Traycerb's Law

Dexpot Preview and Fitt's Law

One small suggestion: Is it possible to have an option to remove the resizing border around the Dexpot Preview tool? Here's my reasoning: Fitt's Law ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fitts%27s_law ) is a computer interface rule that the smaller a target (eg a button you want to press) the longer it tak...

Re: Dexpot startup order

Even if you can fix the startup order, the programs won't necessarily finish loading in the same order, which also affects the behavior of the rules. Your best bet might be to use the desktop startup feature of Dexpot (Configure Desktops). Entries using the "at Dexpot startup" event get e...

Re: Task Switcher in Most-Recently-Used order?

hey dexpot/patrick/sebastian,

what's your take on this request (i.e. having Task Switcher behave like Windows Alt-Tab)? I think it's both useful and familiar, but I'm curious to know your take on it... Any chance you'd consider it?
