Re: Dexpot Preview and Fitt's Law

Nevermind my last request. There's a perfectly good alternative way to do this with autohotkey, which I posted here:

Re: Switching desktops with mouse wheel

Building off Ben Hill's solution, and with a little (a lot actually) of help from some people at the autohotkey forums, I was able to get this to work as I wanted. First set up the Win+R and Win+L shortcuts in dexpot as previously described, and then install autohotkey and use one of the following s...

Desktop Preview auto-hide changed behavior

In one of the last couple updates (ironically, possibly when this request I made was implemented ), the Desktop Preview auto-hide changed its behavior when working with multiple monitors, and can't anchor to all monitor boundaries anymore. It's easier to explain if I show you my my desktop config: h...

Re: Dexpot Preview and Fitt's Law

Thanks much for implementing this.

While I'm being greedy, any chance you can enable Desktop Preview to use mouse scroll to change desktops (like Desktop Manager)?

I don't have a fancy UI rule to invoke here, but mouse scroll is easier than button click. Maybe we can call it Traycerb's Law

Dexpot Preview and Fitt's Law

One small suggestion: Is it possible to have an option to remove the resizing border around the Dexpot Preview tool? Here's my reasoning: Fitt's Law ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fitts%27s_law ) is a computer interface rule that the smaller a target (eg a button you want to press) the longer it tak...

Re: Dexpot startup order

Even if you can fix the startup order, the programs won't necessarily finish loading in the same order, which also affects the behavior of the rules. Your best bet might be to use the desktop startup feature of Dexpot (Configure Desktops). Entries using the "at Dexpot startup" event get e...

Re: Task Switcher in Most-Recently-Used order?

hey dexpot/patrick/sebastian,

what's your take on this request (i.e. having Task Switcher behave like Windows Alt-Tab)? I think it's both useful and familiar, but I'm curious to know your take on it... Any chance you'd consider it?

Task Switcher in Most-Recently-Used order?

Been waiting for the cross-desktop functionality of the Task Switcher for a long time, so it's great to see its appearance in Dexpot 1.5. That said, I wanted to make 2 requests regarding its behavior: 1) Have the list processed in most-recently-used (MRU) order. e.g. if I'm using FF on desktop #1 an...

Re: Speed, Speed, Speed!

Have you tried setting the priority to "Reatime"? That worked for me. Settings > General > Process Priority > Realtime.

Obviously, this deprioritizes other apps, but if you use dexpot enough (like I do), it's worth the trade-off.

Re: Dexpot startup order

When Dexpot starts up automatically with Windows XP, where is that command set? In the registry at HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run, without any command line switches. This key is also mentioned in the first comment to the Old New Thing post you referred to. ah...

Dexpot startup order

When Dexpot starts up automatically with Windows XP, where is that command set? And how can I see what (if any) command line options Dexpot is using when starting? I don't see Dexpot in any of my Windows "Startup" folders (and I checked AllUsers and my current Windows login name). The reas...

multiple copies of desktop preview?

LIke the title says, can multiple copies of Desktop Preview be invoked? If not, can the Desktop Manager auto-hide? Didn't see either in the options, so I assume not, but thought I'd ask...

thanks for the reply. I was about to try the .ini file, but before I did, I tried exiting and restarting dexpot, and it somehow did the trick. FWIW, the ini didn't have a [exe] section, only a [klasse] section, but I assume I could have just added it on. (just donated again. keep up the good work)

samurize Desktopmodding Programm

my apologies, I'm sorry I don't speak German, but I have a question about Samurize, a widget/desktop monitoring/Desktopmodding Program. When I switch desktops, the Samurize monitors/widgets do not show up in the new desktop, despite the fact I wrote a rule (client.exe -> copy -> all desktops) for th...

Mouse-Scrolling desktops using Desktop Preview?

Can one switch desktops with the mouse wheel within Desktop Preview ? I know Desktop Manager has this option explicitly, but I don't see it for Desktop Preview. Not sure if Dexpot is still being actively developed (so sad if it isn't ;_; ), but, if so, since the feature already exists in Desktop Man...

Copying processes (not apps) to all desktops

It's easy to copy an application into all virtual desktops ("sticky") if they are represented in the Task Bar, but some applications only exist as Processes (eg UltraMon or sTabLauncher), and I can't find a way to copy these apps into all desktops. These applications are usually small util...
