Taskbar pager disabled

Dexpot 1.6.14 on Windows 10
My laptop copy of Dexpot is installed the same as my desktop machine, but under Settings->Plugins and Extras, I can't select Taskbar Pager to show my virtual desktops on the task bar.
Any suggestions? I have fiddled with various settings to try and stumble on a solution but nothing obvious comes to mind...
