pager flickering after update

Postby fncll » 15.12.2010 16:29:27

My Dexpot had an auto-update waiting this morning. When I upgraded the taskbar pager became unusable... it flickers like crazy! I tried disabling and re-enabling the pager, restarting Dexpot, and finally restarting Windows... no joy.

I'm running: Windows 7 64bit, Dexpot 1.5.8 build 1434.

Any ideas?

Which theme do you use? Do you have any other programs that modify the taskbar? Did you modify any of the pager's settings?

I don't run any other programs that modify the taskbar. Do you mean a windows theme? I just use the default, I guess. I've never selected another one. The settings for the pager (I don't remember if I changed anything or not): cell size 30, cell spacing 0, border width 2, number of rows 1, highlight flashing windows UNchecked, show tool windows UNchecked.

I tried checking the highlight flashing windows and I also tried changing the number of rows, no luck. Everything was working fine until I updated Dexpot this morning...

So far we haven't been able to reproduce the problem. Could you post (or send by email) a screenshot of your desktop?

Also, please describe what the flickering looks like. Does the whole pager constantly appear and disappear, does it get resized, or is the flickering limited to single pager cells?

There is a folder called update in your Dexpot installation folder, which has a backup of all the files replaced during the update. You can copy the Taskbar Pager.exe to the plugins folder to get the previous version of the pager back.

The flickering is only the pager cells and the battery level indicator next to it. Reverting to the old version worked... I'm sharing an image of my desktop: http://passiontask.com/warehouse/desktop.jpg

I'd say the battery indicator (Lenovo Power Manager?) qualifies as a "program that modifies the taskbar"...

Okay, so how did you solve this? I have the exact same issue (and yes I also have the Lenovo Power Manager)

I've uploaded a video of the bad behavior here and shown how it works correctly once the power manager gauge is turned off:

If you go to the Lenovo Power Manager (in Windows 7), and select Advanced options (top, right) and then the Options tab, you can un-select "Show Power Manager Gauge in task bar". The dexpot pager then stops flickering. The down-side is that you lose the power-manager, as apparently both can't run simultaneously.

:dex:,

not reproducible here.
The Taskbar Pager isn't displayed left to the Power gauge, but right to it.
What's your Power Manager's version? Mine is 3.40.

Further clues?
Best regards (wave)
