Suggestion for the Window Catalog Bug

I know I found the thread before and read it - the one that talks about the freezing windows bug in the Window Catalog if there exists some minimized windows. But I got the impression that it wasn't going to be fixed. So I assume there is some kind of technical difficulty to fix it.
So my suggestion is to implement a timer. So that after a certain # of ms, if windows catalog didn't complete (i.e. it is frozen), then it quits the catalog and tries it again. I've noticed that if it didn't work the first time it will usually complete the catalog on the 2nd or 3rd time I try to catalog that desktop.
p.s. I did search many different word combinations to try to find the thread, but I couldn't find it. That's why I opened a new thread here.
