Disabling / Remapping native Windows hotkeys / shortcuts

Not strictly a Dexpot question per se, but I wanted to use some shortcuts to switch between Dexpot desktops. But my prime candidates Ctrl+Alt+Tab and Win+Tab are native Windows shortcuts and I can't see how to override that.
i even tried disabling "all" WinKey shortcuts (http://www.askvg.com/tip-how-to-disable ... n-windows/) but Win+Tab survives that setting. I tried the registry setting "AltTabSettings" to re-enable Ctrl+Alt+Tab, and while that works it has the side effect of regressing the Alt-Tab visuals back ot XP days.
Is this basically impossible?
