I confirm this problem in my Windows 7 Ultimate x86 installation. I run the latest Chrome 4.0.249.89 (38071).

What is also weird, sometimes Chrome windows which were created on other desktops (e.g. Desktop 2) automagically duplicate themselves on Desktop 1. I have such Chrome window right now. It is an exact copy, or maybe better said - the very same window. Whatever I do in this window on Desktop 2, is also reflected on Desktop 1, and vice-versa.

Is there a fix for this, some special settings tweak? Please help.

I have the same problem with Dexpot 1.5 and Chrome on Win 7 Pro x64.

Anyone found a solution to it?

It's working now, but caveat emptor.

First of all, in Windows 7, the Dexpot sub-menu doesn't appear at all when you right-click the taskbar icons. I assume it only happens when one uses Aero Glass...?

Secondly, for other programs/windows, one can right-click the title bar and invoke the Dexpot menu, but Chrome uses its own codes so it doesn't work.

Thirdly, it's possible to use hot-keys to move Chrome windows now.

Cheers.

Oh, I get it now.

It's not moving Chrome windows in general that doesn't work, it's moving Chrome windows using the system menu entries. In fact none of the Dexpot system menu commands have any effect on Chrome. We'll investigate and try to fix it.

That's a feature of the new taskbar. You have to right-click while holding the shift key.

Oh thanks very much!!! Dexpot has fallen off my radar since upgrading to Win7 because of this issue, now I could get back to work... : )

Cheers!

I just wanted to chime in on the Google Chrome problem with duplicating windows: I have this problem: Sometimes a Chrome window is duplicated to other desktops. Initial poster mentioned that is duplicated to desktop 1 - for me it is random. I use "move to next" and "move to previous" shortcuts (move my view of which desktop, not move a window to next/prev desktop) - and I believe that sometimes I "duplicate along" a Chrome window. Needless to say, this is very frustrating!

One can get out of the situation by using right-click menu and move both of the duplicates to some desktop (e.g. chrome is duplicated to #2 and #3, then move both of those to #1. It kinda seems like it duplicates the window entry in the what-resides-on-which-desktop database, believing that the one window is two different applications - or something)

I just realized what triggers this copied-Chromes situation: Opening an URL from another program. I.e., when I read my email in Outlook, and then click a link in some email (assuming that Chrome does not reside on the same desktop as Outlook). This opens up the link in a new tab in an existing Chrome window - but in addition copies that Chrome window to the same desktop as Outlook resides on. Hope that was clear.
